About Gill

Clinical experience. A holistic outlook. A genuine passion for helping people.

I’m Gill Carter, a Registered Nurse and Freedom From Chronic Pain Practitioner based in West Wales.

For more than 35 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people through my work within the NHS.

For 17 of those years, I worked as a Specialist Nurse within Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s and Chronic Pain services.

My clinical career has given me an enormous amount of knowledge and experience.

But it also sparked a curiosity that has shaped the work I do today.

I offer personalised, compassionate support using my clinical experience alongside gentle mind-body techniques, with sessions available face-to-face in West Wales or online.

Discover How I can Help

Whether you’re living with chronic pain, struggling with stress or anxiety, or finding it difficult to move beyond a distressing experience, you don’t have to work through it alone.

Let’s explore what you’d like to change and how I can support you.

Looking Beyond the Symptoms

While working as a Midwife, I was introduced to acupuncture and saw first-hand the benefits a different approach to health and wellbeing could offer.

It started a journey of learning that has continued throughout my career.

I travelled to Beijing to study acupuncture before completing a degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at Salford University.

From there, I continued exploring different approaches to physical and emotional wellbeing.

I trained in Hypnotherapy at the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy in London and undertook further training with Paul McKenna, Steve Crabb and Tina Taylor.

I completed the Freedom From Chronic Pain programme with Professor Howard Schubiner and Hal Greenham, as well as the British Mindfulness Institute’s stress reduction programme for healthcare professionals.

More recently, I trained in Havening Techniques® with Stephen Travers, Director of UK and International Havening and an experienced International Havening Techniques Trainer.

Why This Work Matters to Me

My interest in these techniques isn’t purely professional.

I know personally what it’s like to experience panic attacks, stress and anxiety.

Havening has helped me personally, and experiencing that change strengthened my desire to use what I’ve learnt to help others.

Today, I combine my clinical understanding with the therapeutic tools I’ve spent many years studying.

I’m continually struck by the positive changes I see in the people I work with, and it remains a privilege to support every client.

My Approach

You are more than your symptoms. I believe good support starts with listening.

I want you to feel heard, understood and comfortable, without judgement or pressure.

We’ll look at what you’re experiencing, what you would like to change and the approaches that may be appropriate for you.

My aim is to provide a calm, safe and compassionate space while helping you develop tools that can support you beyond our sessions together.
